Take some mung daal. Fry it for few minutes (oil is not necessary) and keep aside. Then heat some oil and fry the vegetables (e.g., potato, green peas, cauliflower, etc.) you want to put in. Add the mung daal and water and let it boil for 5-10 minutes. Then add rice, termeric powder, chilli powder, salt and let it boil. (If you want you can also add a pinch of sugar).
Meanwhile, make the masala by heating some oil with onion, chilli, ginger paste, jeera powder. When the rice-dal mixure is cooked add the masal and stir for 2 minutes. Add ghee before serving.
